Tribute To Hon. Ighrakpata, A Man of Exceptional Humility On His Birthday
I join the world to celebrate a man with unrivaled humility, self respect and unassuming leadership traits, Hon Chief Solomon Ighrakpata, the chairman of the Delta State Revenue Board, on his birthday today.
I have studied politicians, but honestly, I have never seen a man so tall in character yet so humane and down to earth as Uncle Solo. Little wonder, the Good Lord has always lifted him to enviable heights of leadership in the mucky waters of Uvwie politics. I usually call him ‘Okporua of the universe’.
As a member of the Delta State House of Assembly, he was the unseen link between the then Speaker and now the Governor of our dear state, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and other members of the House, a role he played perfectly. In this period, he knew and respected brotherhood deeply to the admiration of all in the most vibrant House of Assembly in modern Nigeria. Though, he was elderly to the Speaker, he never lost sight of the fact that, he is the Speaker and the ‘Numero Uno’, First Amongst Equals in an Assembly of twenty nine astute members. He was so humble and fondly referred to the Speaker as Oga! (leader).
In the run-up to the 2023 governorship election, he played a pivotal role, his sense of brotherhood knew no bounds, he was exceptionally reliable and stood like the rock of Gibraltar. He crisscrossed the length and breadth of Delta and beyond with the governor. As a dogged fighter, he threw both human and material resources to the ring, and today I know he will say ‘it’s uhuru’, as no one is permitted to envy him.
In the case of Uncle Solo, today, he is reaping the fruits of his labour. Truly Loyalty Pays!
As you attain a new age, I pray for our El-Shadai to continue to protect you and bless you and your household far and beyond all your expectations and above all grant you excellent health in longevity as you continue to serve the people of Delta State.
Once again congratulations to OKPORUA OF THE UNIVERSE!
